Join Lung Cancer Initiative for an update in lung cancer research! We will hear from the following lung cancer researchers:
Lee Ann Jarrett Johnson, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia
Dr. Johnson, a Lung Cancer Initiative Fellowship Grant Recipient from 2019-2020, will share more about her fellows project: "A Comparative Analysis of Lung Cancer Treatment in a Local and National Sample with Lung Cancer." This project examines differences in lung cancer-related treatments between whites and African Americans in eastern North Carolina.
Li Yang, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Graduate Program Director, IDPBBC Biomedicine Concentration, Departments of Internal Medicine, Anatomy & Cell Biology, and Chemistry, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University
Dr. Yang's research builds upon existing research related to immunotherapy treatments in lung cancer. Immunotherapy has changed the paradigm of lung cancer treatment; however, immune-related adverse events (irAEs) may occur due to the immune system hyper-activation secondary to immunotherapy. The goal of his research is to identify biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets to mitigate irAEs and improve cancer immunotherapy.
This is a free event and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
