Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina Names Chad Pecot, MD to Board
June 12, 2018 RALEIGH, N.C. - The Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina, is pleased to welcome Chad Pecot, MD, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center to serve on the board of directors of the state’s leading nonprofit organization supporting lung cancer research and education.
“Dr. Pecot is well recognized in the field of lung cancer, and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team of other advocates and healthcare providers. In fact, he is a past recipient of one of our research collaborations with the V Foundation. We are honored to partner with him and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center to continue making a difference for so many people who are impacted by this disease,” says Amy Cipau, president of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Pecot is an Assistant Professor at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and specializes in solid tumor malignancies. As a prior cancer patient, his passion is to uncover important findings in cancer biology and translate these to the clinic as rapidly as possible. Since August 2013 Dr. Pecot has been an independent investigator at UNC-Chapel Hill. His research career thus far has quickly led to several high-impact discoveries as a result of innovative ideas and establishment of synergistic collaborative teams.
"The Lung Cancer Initiative has been instrumental in supporting me and my lab at UNC to focus on cutting-edge lung cancer research. The fruit of that support is now beginning to mount into a wave of publications. Stay tuned, exciting things are coming." says Dr. Pecot.
