Lung Cancer Initiative is dedicated to serving the needs of people with lung cancer and their loved ones, which is why we want to make sure that you have all of the appropriate resources and information that you need. Whether it's information resources on lung cancer, educational videos to watch while at home, or ways that you can stay involved with our organization during this time, we hope that this newsletter provides you with access to whatever information or materials you may need.

One of the Lung Cancer Initiative’s goals is to provide the latest Lung Cancer Information and FAQS. As part of our outreach efforts, we provide up-to-date Informational Materials and a list Healthcare Provider Resources to help patients understand all of their treatment options.

Ways to Get Involved

Online Biweekly Luncheon 

Grab your lunch and join us on Wednesdays for our lung cancer survivor online luncheon! This luncheon is open to all lung cancer survivors and is a great opportunity to meet and socialize with other survivors. This online event will be held on Zoom every other Wednesday at noon.

Let's Create Hope

Join Our Virtual LUNGe Forward 5K, Run & Walk 

Now through June 1, you can help us continue raising awareness of lung cancer while raising critical funds for lung cancer research by participating in our #VirtualLUNGeForward 5K Run & Walk! To participate is simple:

  • Register at Charlotte.LungeForward.org (if you registered for the Charlotte LUNGe Forward event you do not need to register again)
  • Commit to walk/run one mile, a 5K, or whatever distance you choose by June 1
  • While you’re out for your run or walk, take a selfie with one of our race bibs (download them here) and upload it to YOUR social media!
  • In the caption, tell us why you’re walking/running (Maybe you’re a survivor, or running in honor or memory of a loved one). We want to hear your story!
  • Be sure to tag us in your post and if you'd like us to share it, please make sure its settings are set to "public" (Our social media accounts are listed below)
  • Include the hashtags #VirtualLUNGeForward and #LUNGeForward

Online Power Up Series Webinars

Join us for our next virtual Power Up Series: Financial Hurdles for Lung Cancer Patients webinar on April 23 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. This webinar will feature Wendy-Jo Turan (Financial Counselor and Patient Advocate at Levine Cancer Institute) and Mike Smith (lung cancer survivor) who will be sharing his lung cancer journey.
