The primary mission of Wind River Cancer Wellness Retreats & Outreach Programs is to teach survivors a variety of ways to deal with the emotional stress of cancer and to improve their quality of life.  Our goal is for participants to leave our programs revitalized, empowered, and with an enhanced support system.  Designed for men and women in active treatment, facing advanced cancers or confronting a recurrence of cancer, retreats and programs are free of charge to survivors. o This proposal is for a multi-day lung cancer survivor wellness retreat in the Raleigh Durham area.  In partnership with Lung Cancer Initiative of NC, this Retreat will bring together 12-16 lung cancer survivors to experience tai chi and breathing, nutrition and healthy eating, healing touch, therapeutic journaling, creative art and music.  During these activities and family-style meals, participants share stories and strategies related to the physical and emotional challenges of cancer and form lasting relationships.
